CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING UNIT IN GREATER NOIDA — POSH COMPLIANCE SETUP AND POSH TRAINING FOR FACTORY BLUE COLLAR EMPLOYEES

Chemical Manufacturing Unit in Greater Noida — Posh Compliance Setup and Posh Training for Factory Blue Collar Employees

The Client: An chemical manufacturing company in Greater Noida with around 300 employees — approximately 50 in the office and 250 on the factory floor, including contract workers supplied by third-party contractors.

The Problem: During a routine labour inspection, the labour inspector asked to see the company's POSH documents. The HR manager had nothing to show — no POSH policy, no Internal Committee, no proof that any employee had ever been trained on POSH, and no annual report filed with the District Officer as required by law. The inspector recorded this as non-compliance and gave the company 60 days to fix everything. But the company's management knew this wasn't just a paperwork problem. With 250 workers on the factory floor — many of them contract workers who had never heard of the POSH Act — simply writing a policy and forming a committee on paper wouldn't solve anything. They needed a system that actually worked on the ground, not just in a file.

What We Did Under the POSH Consultant:

  • Checked the entire company's POSH compliance from top to bottom — office, factory floor, contractor setup, and rules for visitors
  • Drafted a detailed POSH policy in both English and Hindi language, covering everyone — permanent staff, contract workers, trainees, and visitors
  • Set up the Internal Committee required as per POSH law — a senior woman employee as Presiding Officer, two employee members, and our team as the External Member
  • Conducted POSH training in three different ways:
    • A classroom session for 60 office staff — explaining what harassment means, how to file a complaint, what rights both sides have, and what the consequences of sexual Harassment
    • A simple, easy-to-understand session in Hindi for 260 factory floor workers (done in 4 batches) — using real-life examples, role-plays, and Q&A instead of legal language and PowerPoints
    • A detailed session for IC members — teaching them how to receive complaints, run inquiries, deal with difficult witnesses, keep things private, write their findings, and recommend action
  • Prepared the yearly POSH compliance report and submitted it to the District Officer before the deadline
  • Set up a quarterly POSH check-in under the retainer — reviewing any new complaints, refreshing IC members' knowledge, updating the policy if any law changes, and making sure the yearly report is filed on time every year

Final Result: The company achieved full POSH compliance within 45 days — 15 days before the inspector's 60-day deadline. The factory floor training was particularly effective — within six months, two informal complaints were raised by contract workers through the new complaint channel, both handled quickly and confidentially at the IC level without escalation. Before SPJ's intervention, these workers had no idea they even had the right to complain. The company now passes every labour inspection on POSH compliance without any adverse observation.
